Our story | Pulsar Watches

Pulsar burst onto the world watch market with the first ever LED watch in 1972 and since then the name has been synonymous with adventurous and leading edge design.

Born To Be Different

Pulsar was born in an age of optimism.  In the 1970’s, everything seemed achievable through the rapidly growing technological expertise at the world’s fingertips.  Space flight had been converted from dream to reality, computer science was developing at break neck speed and electronics seemed to deliver new advances every day.  Pulsar symbolised the age.  It was new and it was bold, it was surprising and different.  Pulsar, the world’s first electronic digital watch, created a sensation when it was unveiled in New York in 1972 and it changed the world’s perception of time.

Following its successful launch and being James Bond’s watch of choice at the time, Pulsar joined the Seiko Watch Corporation in 1979, enabling the brand to bring further surprises to the world; the first calculator watch in 1980 and the first all-quartz watch line in 1981 were among its industry-leading achievements.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s Pulsar continued to bring to market new products that were born to be different.  The Pulsar name became synonymous with adventurous and leading-edge design.   Its products reflected their reputation as an ingenious and surprising watchmaker.

Pulsar’s enviable reputation for excellent design and styling has been steadily built up over the last 40 years.  Every movement is made to the highest standards by Seiko Watch Corporation factories, and comes with a two year guarantee.  The UK-based Service Centre is one of the largest of its kind and offers a premier after-sales service, giving the consumer that all important peace of mind.

One of the benefits of belonging to the Seiko family is that Pulsar can take advantage of the patented Kinetic technology and the current product range also includes alarm chronographs and duo-display.

Watch partner to the Qatar M-Sport World Rally Team

Pulsar is proud to be the official time partner for the Qatar M-Sport World Rally Team.

The Qatar M-Sport World Rally Team is new but the car and the team supporting it are vastly experienced.  M-Sport has been Ford’s WRC partner for many years and for 2013 has specially prepared a new version of the Fiesta RS car that made its WRC debut in 2011.

Pulsar’s core strength as a watchmaker is its chronographs and the FIA WRC is the perfect proving ground for the latest and most rugged models.

Throughout the rally season, Pulsar's name will be on all of the team's cars, as well as on the team rally facilities, transports and websites.
